Triggshire Wind Orchestra and Live Brass Concert
On Wednesday 28th March 2012 over 30 young wind and percussion players gave an inspiring performance at Lanteglos Church following an afternoon workshop at Sir James Smiths School.
The young brass players from Triggshire Wind Orchestra, Buzzing Brass and Camelford Youth Band had been working alongside the players from the Live Brass Ensemble, a professional quintet lead by Kate Moore, the principle trumpet of the BBC Concert orchestra. They had focused on breathing techniques, rhythm and ensemble playing, the end result of which was enjoyed by everyone when they performed Jesus Christ Superstar as part of the evening concert.
The concert had begun with Triggshire Wind Orchestra, lead by Janet Elston playing a selection of pieces ranging from well known classical tunes to film music. This orchestra, based at Sir James Smiths School includes young players from both secondary and primary schools throughout North Cornwall.
The audience and young musicians alike were given a real treat as Live Brass finished the evening off. Their performance was inspiring for many and gave people a chance to hear some of the leading brass players in the country. They saw the evening out with a great performance of Gershwin’s Fascinating Rhythm, Summertime and It’s Nice Work if You Can Get It, which was described as every musicians theme. All in all this was an inspiring and enjoyable afternoon and evening for all involved.
