Four keyboard students recently performed at the Cornwall Music Festival, held at Truro Methodist church, where they gained a worthwhile experience and enjoyed some good results.
Georgina Jephcott (a Year 5 pupil from Devoran School) and Rufus Martin (a Year 5 from Mount Hawke Academy) played in the elementary solo class. Both were awarded Distinctions by the adjudicator, Andrew Padmore. Georgina was presented with the festival Trophy which she retains for 12 months.
Each of these students were then joined by another from the same school to take part in the keyboard ensemble class:
- Noah Sydenham (a Year 4 from Devoran) performed with Georgina.
- Caspar Fish (Year 5 from Mount Hawke) accompanied Rufus.
Both pairs were joined by their teacher, Steve Watts, to perform as a trio with each person playing a different part.
They chose music taken from the repertoire for Music Medal examinations. Both ensembles were commended on their performance. Each student was presented with a certificate by Doctor Padmore along with a commemorative musical pencil!
Well done to all involved.
