The Autumn term is always an exciting time with pupils keen to return to lessons after the long summer break and many new pupils beginning their musical journey with lessons in school. The many area and county ensembles which Music Cornwall runs have seen an increase in the number of percussionists joining.
After a peaceful summer, its been good to get back to Music cornwall HQ to make some noise. Having spent Monday's INSET taking part in loads of music making activities, the guitar team then spent Tuesday putting together our new demo set ready to tour around the schools.
So far we've managed to include: Classical guitars, Electric guitars, Bass guitars, a Double Bass, Drum kit, and I'm sure I saw somebody walking around with a kitchen sink at some point...
Looking forward to a high-impact demo week! Good luck to everyone with the new term.
I was fortunate enough to attend a rehearsal with the Cornwall Youth Percussion Ensemble last night as they prepared for their forthcoming perfomance at the Music Cornwall 'Marvellous Music' Showcase concerts at the Hall For Cornwall in Truro later this month.
This weekend will see the second set of workshops and performances by 20 of Cornwall's young jazz students, working in partnership with 3 tutors from the National Youth Jazz Collective.
Become part of the Relays Choir being created especially for a new play A Hooligan’s Game. Performed by Cornwall Youth Theatre, the play is full of humour and the choir play an integral part of the action with brand new songs created specifically for the production.
