National Youth Jazz Collective And Cornwalls Youth Jazz Students

This weekend will see the second set of workshops and performances by 20 of Cornwall's young jazz students, working in partnership with 3 tutors from the National Youth Jazz Collective.

3 National Youth Jazz Collective Tutors to Help Students Improve Improvisation and Jazz Skills

Last weekend 20 young jazz students from all over Cornwall came together at Helston Community College to work with 3 National Youth Jazz Collective tutors to improve their improvisation and jazz skills.  The students, from as far afield as Cape Cornwall and Wadebridge, worked as a large group and in smaller ensembles with Andrew Bain (drums), Mark Hodgson (double bass) and Simon Colam (piano).

Tying The Knot With Music

Mark Clapp, one of Music Cornwall Keyboard Team, is getting married this Saturday 10th March, and various colleagues from Music Cornwall are involved in the celebrations. 

CYJO go underground (again)!

CYJOOn Friday 16th March 2012 the combined might of the two Cornwall Youth Jazz Orchestras will disappear beneath the ground to perform in the atmospheric Carnglaze Caverns.

CYJO 1 and 2 have now had three rehearsals this term, and Sarah, James and myself are delighted with the way that the ensembles are coming together.  We are pleased to announce that we will be performing together, hopefully with some special guests, at Carnglaze Caverns near Bodmin on Saturday 17th March 2012 at 7.30pm.  Ticket prices and more information can be obtained from www.carnglaze.com.

Over the years CYJO has performed at many prestigious events including TV's 'Children In Need', Paddington Station to help celebrate 100 years of the Great Western Railway, Bude Jazz Festival and Lanhydrock Jazz in the Park.
