Applications for the Derek Kitt Memorial Trust 2012 are now open. The Trust has been created to support and further the visionary work of Derek Kitt, formerly County Adviser for Music.
During 2012 Music Cornwall are working in partnership with Concerts Penzance to bring the cutting edge of Physics and Music to schools in Cornwall. Between January 30th and February 3rd one of Europe’s most eminent physicists, Professor Brian Foster OBE (Oxford University) and two of Britain’s outstanding soloists, violinist Jack Liebeck and cellist Guy Johnston visit Mid and West Cornwall offering ‘Superstrings’ lecture recitals in schools and colleges aimed at GCSE and A Level students of Physics and Musicians of any age.
On Wednesday 16th November, Music Cornwall's curriculum provision team led and hosted a training day for music coordinators from primary schools across Cornwall.
Music Cornwall has been validated as a Children's University Learning Destination. Children with Children's University passports can collect stickers for their hours from their Music Cornwall teacher. Children can earn a CU sticker, stamp or signature for each hour of participation in a Music Cornwall activity out of school time, ie practice at home or attending a choir or ensemble after school, at weekends or during the school holidays.
What is the Children's University?
The Children's University is a national project which recognises the achievements of young people who take part in quality out of hours learning activities. These activities can be run at a school as an after-school club or may be offered by other "Learning Destinations" such as a museum or library.
