BSO Resonate Strings and Music Cornwall String Groups

On Tuesday, 1st May, four of Music Cornwall’s young string groups will perform at Launceston Town Hall with BSO Resonate Strings (a string quintet from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra). Over the last few months members of Trigg Strings, Carradon Strings, Newquay Strings and Launceston Strings have each been working on a movement from Peter Warlock's Capriol Suite and will rehearse during the day at Launceston Town Hall culminating in a performance for family and friends at 6pm.

Family Organise A Barn Dance To Thank The RNLI Lifeguards Who Saved Fathers Life

The family of a man who was given lifesaving first aid by RNLI lifeguards on Polzeath beach in North Cornwall in July 2011 are hosting a special barn dance at Launceston Town Hall on Saturday 17 March to thank the charity’s lifesavers.
 

Annual Festival of String Workshops Hailed as a Success by Pupils and Parents Across the County

During the week beginning February 6th, area string teams from Music Cornwall once again provided a series of workshops for beginner players; with more than 280 children taking part, involving over 40 primary schools across the length and breadth of our county. 

Cellos Excel for Charity

A rare treat indeed was had by all who attended this magnificent concert in St. Agnes Church on Saturday Feb 4th.  7 of our fine local cellists combined with international star Kwesi Edman played to a full house to raise funds for “wired” a local charity to help patients who have suffered a stroke or head injury. An amazing £550 was raised.

Music Cornwall and Concerts Penzance Bring Cutting Edge Physics and Music to Schools in Cornwall.

During 2012 Music Cornwall are working in partnership with Concerts Penzance to bring the cutting edge of Physics and Music to schools in Cornwall.  Between January 30th and February 3rd one of Europe’s most eminent physicists, Professor Brian Foster OBE (Oxford University) and two of Britain’s outstanding soloists, violinist Jack Liebeck and cellist Guy Johnston visit Mid and West Cornwall offering ‘Superstrings’ lecture recitals in schools and colleges aimed at GCSE and A Level students of Physics and Musicians of any age.

Music Cornwall Cello Teachers in Concert with Special Guest Kwesi Edman

Music Cornwall String Team’s cello teachers, will be performing along with special guest Kwesi Edman (internationally acclaimed cellist) in a concert in St. Agnes church following a weekend of playing. They are raising funds for stroke patients.

BSO and Resonate Strings project with Music Cornwall String Ensembles

Members of the Music Cornwall String Team are working on a project with the theme - The Planets - with KEAP and players from BSO (Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra). This is for schools based in the north of the county and a number of our ensembles will be involved culminating in a workshop and performace day on May 1st in Launceston Town Hall.
