Cornwall Learning has been awarded a grant of £120,000 to support young people from Bodmin College who need extra support with their transition from primary to secondary school and others identified at risk of disengaging from their education.
Today marks the beginning of the ten day long Golowan Festival taking place throughout Penzance from the 21st to 30th June 2013 and culminating in the Mazey weekend and notably Mazey Day on Saturday 29th June.
Music Cornwall's ensemble, The Penzance Youth Wind Band, under the direction of Jacqueline Kershaw and Sarah Ableman will again be performing for the town dignitaries as part of the Civic Service at St John's Church, Penzance, this Sunday.
This weekend will see the second set of workshops and performances by 20 of Cornwall's young jazz students, working in partnership with 3 tutors from the National Youth Jazz Collective.
Become part of the Relays Choir being created especially for a new play A Hooligan’s Game. Performed by Cornwall Youth Theatre, the play is full of humour and the choir play an integral part of the action with brand new songs created specifically for the production.
The Cornwall Youth Orchestra will be giving 3 concerts across the county over the Easter period, with performances in Launceston Town Hall on Thursday 5th April, St. John’s Hall Penzance on Friday 6th April and Truro Cathedral on Saturday 14th April.
Triggshire Wind Orchestra, Carrick Winds and Penzance Youth Wind Band Join Forces for BBC Music Nations Day
Last weekend 20 young jazz students from all over Cornwall came together at Helston Community College to work with 3 National Youth Jazz Collective tutors to improve their improvisation and jazz skills. The students, from as far afield as Cape Cornwall and Wadebridge, worked as a large group and in smaller ensembles with Andrew Bain (drums), Mark Hodgson (double bass) and Simon Colam (piano).
Saturday the 10th and Sunday 11th March sees the Cornwall Youth Orchestra holding its March course at Newquay Tretherras School.
